OER as Language Online Lessons to Enhance Thai University Students’ English Language Skills in the COVID-19 Pandemic Era

With the growth and widespread availability of education technologies, English language teaching (ELT) needs to be shaped differently. In addition, COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated a disruption systems all over world on scale scope never seen before. This paper aims explore potential online lessons subcategorized as open educational resources (OER) in enhancing university students’ skills through Moodle system. A total 189 first-year humanities students from medium sized Thailand participated this study during semester break. Prior OER exposure, participants completed questionnaire eliciting personal information, followed by pre-test five skills. Then, were encouraged freely exploit for period 19 days. After parallel post-test, post exposure questionnaire, semi-structured interviews administered. The pre-test/post-test score comparison shows significant gain scores, suggesting positive impact participants’ performance. However, interview data reveal intriguing findings about engagement interaction with , highlighting notions learner autonomy self-regulated learning. study, thus, represents wake-up call Thai ELT stakeholders prepare shift away traditional approaches, modify teachers’ behaviours, syllabus, curriculum, empower learners successfully cope changing environment.
